"Thick shale gas play emerging in Spain's Basque area"

Analysis of drilling and test data from 14 wells drilled since the 1950s has indicated the presence of a world class shale gas play in the Basque Country of northern Spain.

Of 14 wells that penetrated the Cretaceous shale, 10 tested gas and only three penetrated the entire section.

A group led by the Basque national oil company will drill its first two appraisal wells in 2012. The 14 earlier penetrations collectively led to an independently estimated midrange resource of about 200 tcf of free gas and adsorbed gas in place...

Tähän mennessä Puolan alueella oleviin liuskeisiin on porattu vain kaksi kaivoa: Puolan valtion omistaman PGNigin aiemmin tänä vuonna poraaman kaivon tuloksia ei ole julkistettu ja Conocon poraaman kaivon tuloset eivät vielä varmaankaan ole valmiit. Kiinnostusta Puolan geologiaa kohtaan on viimeisen reilun vuoden aikana osoittanut useampi major ja super major ml. Exxon, Conoco, Marathon Oil ja Talisman sekä joukko pienempiä yhtiöitä. Sinällään on mielenkiintoista että suuremmat öljy ja kaasuyhtiöt olivat pahasti jälkijunassa lähes kaikissa epätavanomaisien resurssien kehittämisessä Pohjois-Amerikassa ja suurimman hyödyn niistä ovat saaneet uudet "super independit" kuten EOG ja Chesapeak. Ilmeisesti majorit ovat ottaneet oppia aiemmista virheistä ja Euroopassa suuret ovatkin kärkijuokossa. Eurooppaan kannustaa korkeampi kaasun hinta: tällä hetkellä Henry Hub spotti on n. $3.50 per MCF ja Keski-Euroopassa vastaava määrä kaasua on hinnoiteltu n. 8 dollariin.

Johtuen siitä että Puolasa varsin vähän oikeanlaista porauskalustoa saati sitten frakkikalustoa ovat exploration-kaivojen kustannukset ainakin tässä vaiheessa varsin korkeita Pohjois-Amerikkaan verrattuna.

Talismanin tavoitemuodostelmat Puolassa ovat selvästi syvemmällä kuin Pohjois-Amerikan tämän hetken taloudellisesti paras tuottoisin muodostelma Marcellus, mutta Puolan arvioitu kaasuresurssi per neliömaili on selvästi suurempi kuin USA:n itä-rannikolla sijaitsevassa Marcellus-liuskeessa. CAMARILLO, CA, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ - BNK Petroleum Inc. (the "Company") (TSX: BKX) is pleased to announce a non-brokered Cdn.$66 million private placement, representing 26,000,000 common shares at a price of Cdn.$2.54 per share, to Quantum Partners LP, a private investment fund managed by Soros Fund Management LLC.. ("Quantum").

The financing is subject to, among other things, approval of the Toronto Stock Exchange. The Company will pay fees of approximately 3% of the gross proceeds in aggregate to Macquarie Capital Markets Canada Ltd., who acted as the Company's financial advisor on the transaction and GMP Securities L.P., TD Securities Inc., Paradigm Capital Inc. and others who acted as strategic advisors to the Company.

The shares issued pursuant to the financing will be subject to a four month hold period in Canada commencing on the date of the closing. Upon completion of the private placement Quantum will hold approximately 19.5% of the Company's issued and outstanding shares. Closing of the financing is currently scheduled to occur on or about October 25 2010, subject to receipt of all necessary approvals.

The Company intends to use the net proceeds of the private placement for general corporate purposes, including work commitments on its European shale gas concessions.

Lane Energy Poland and Schlumberger have announced an update on the first exploration shale gas well evaluating the shales in the Baltic Basin of northern Poland. In addition, drilling on a second well in the area is at an advanced stage.

Lebien LE1 is the first of two-wells that Lane is drilling in the onshore Baltic Basin region. Drilling on the second well, Legowo LE1 began on August 27, 2010 and operations are proceeding on schedule...

Korkeita dr:ä tästä ei ainakaan voi syyttää, koska kenttä on alle 250 jalan syvyydessä.
