NEW DRILLING CONTRACT FOR BELFORD DOLPHIN AND THE NEWBUILD

Dolphin Drilling Ltd., a subsidiary of Fred. Olsen Energy ASA, has entered into contracts for the provision of the drillship Belford Dolphin and its newbuild drillship under construction by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (APC). The contracts are each for four years and are expected to be in support of Anadarko's future long term drilling programmes offshore Mozambique.

The Belford Dolphin contract will commence January 1st 2012 in direct continuation of its existing contract with APC which had previously been scheduled to continue to April 2013. The value for the Belford Dolphin contract is approximately $701 million.

The four year term of the newbuild drillship contact will begin on commencement of operations offshore Mozambique expected in the fourth quarter 2013 following delivery by HHI and mobilization to Mozambique. The newbuild drillship contract value is approximately $727 million including a mobilization fee of $15 million. In connection with the newbuild contract it will be invested in a second BOP, estimated to USD 35 million.

Uusien sopimuksien päivätaksat näyttäisivät olevan suurinpiirtein:

  • Beldford Dolphin $480,000
  • NB-TBN $498,000

" Anadarko Discovers Oil Offshore Sierra Leone"

APC:n tiedote:
HOUSTON, TX, Nov 15, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: APC) today announced the Mercury-1 exploration well offshore Sierra Leone encountered approximately 135 net feet of oil pay in two Cretaceous-age fan systems. Mercury is the company's second deepwater test in the Sierra Leone-Liberian Basin and was drilled to a total depth of approximately 15,950 feet in about 5,250 feet of water.

"The Mercury well demonstrates that the stratigraphic trapping systems we've identified are working, and that the petroleum system is generating high-quality oil," Anadarko Sr. Vice President, Worldwide Exploration Bob Daniels said. "In the primary objective, the Mercury well encountered approximately 114 net feet of light sweet crude oil with a gravity of between 34 and 42 degrees API, with no water contact. An additional 21 net feet of 24-degree gravity crude was encountered in a shallower secondary objective.

"These results continue to build momentum in the basin and enhance our confidence in the team's seismic interpretation and geologic modeling," added Daniels. "We are preserving the wellbore for potential re-entry, DST (drillstem testing) or a down-dip sidetrack to further delineate the reservoir's areal extent, quality and deliverability. We also plan to continue working with the government of Sierra Leone and our partnership to accelerate exploration and appraisal activity in the area in 2011."

Positiivinen uutinen paitsi Anadarkolle, mutta myös syvissä vesissä poraaville.

Tullow antes up for Liberia stake
"UK outfit Tullow Oil bought 25% interest in LB-15, LB-16 and LB-17 licenses in Liberia in January, exploration boss Angus McCoss said today. "

"It will be “typical deep-water exploration” with a “commitment for seismic and drilling of an exploration well,” McCoss said on a conference call with reporters. "
