LUNDIN PETROLEUM FINDS GAS IN BARENTS SEA

Lundin Petroleum AB (Lundin Petroleum), through its wholly owned subsidiary Lundin Norway AS (Lundin Norway), is pleased to announce that exploration well 7220/10-1 in PL533 has discovered gas condensate in the Salina structure located on the west flank of the Loppa High in the Barents Sea.Well 7220/10-1 has proved two gas columns in sandstone of Cretaceous and Jurassic age. Data acquisition in the well, including coring, wireline logging and fluid sampling, has proven good reservoir quality in the sandstone. Preliminary calculations, made by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, give a range of gross discovered volume in the Salina structure of between 5 and 7 billion standard cubic metres (Bsm3) (29 to 41 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe)) of recoverable gas/condensate.The well was drilled to a total depth of 2,371 metres below mean sea level and was drilled with the rig Scarabeo 8.Lundin Petroleum holds 20 percent interest in PL533. Partners are ENI (operator) with 40 percent interest, RWE Dea (20 percent) and Det norske oljeselskap ASA (20 percent)... 

 Pre-drill arvio Salinasin potentiaalista oli 500 miljoonaa boeta. Löytö ei näytä kaupalliselle; jos tämän sijainti olisi 500 kilometriä etelämmässä ja kaasun sijasta rakentessa olisi öljyä niin tämä olisi varmasti kaupallinen osuma. Jos jos.

Enin operoimassa PL533-blokissa sijaitsevan Pulk-prospektin exploration-kaivon poraus alkaa Q2:lla. Pre-drill arvio prospektin koosta on n. 500 miljoonaa boeta(koostuu useammasta eri muodostelmasta/kerroksesta) ja arvioitu onnistumisprosentti 14-19%. Blokin omistusjakauma: Eni 40%, Lundin 20%, DetNor 20%, RWE 20%.

Eni announces a giant gas discovery offshore Mozambique San Donato Milanese (Milan), 20 October 2011 - Eni announces a giant natural gas discovery at the Mamba South 1 prospect, in the Area 4 Offshore Mozambique. The discovery well encountered a total of 212 meters of continuous gas pay in high-quality Oligocene sands. The Mamba South 1 discovery well is located in water depths of 1585 meters approximately 40 km off Cabo Delgado coast, in the Northern offshore of Mozambique. This is the first exploration well in Area 4. Results exceed pre-drill expectations and confirm the Rovuma Basin as a world-class natural gas province. The well will be drilled to reach an expected total depth of around 5000 meters. After completion of drilling and testing activities, the rig will move to drill the second commitment well, Mamba North 1. Eni considers that this impressive discovery can lead to at least 15 tcf of gas in place in the Mamba South Area where the potential of the Tertiary Play that exists in Area 4 will be further assessed under the present drilling. The outstanding volume of natural gas discovered will lead to a large scale gas development with a combination of both export to regional and international markets through LNG and supply to the domestic market. This will support the industrial and economic growth of the Country.

Skrugard kan inneholde 500 millioner fat olje

– Vi tror at oppfølgingspotensialet rundt Skrugard ligger på opp mot 500 millioner fat oljeekvivalenter. Da snakker vi Norne-størrelse på Skrugard, sier Statoils letesjef for Barentshavet, Knut Harald Nygård.

Ensimmäisessä tiedotteessa mainittiin toki mahdollisena kokona 500 miljoonaa boeta, mutta nyt on kyse ilmeisesti todennäköisyydestä.

Onnistumisprosentti Norjan Barentsilla on ollut yllättävän korkea, mutta aiemmin kiinnostusta aluetta kohtaan on vähentänyt ilmasto-olojen lisäksi Barenrentsin Basineiden geologian kompleksisuus ja mahdollisten kenttien todennäköinen kaasuisuus.

Tuo NPD:n presentaatio on vilkaisun arvoinen, vaikka ei olisi nimenomaisesti Barentsista kiinnostunutkaan, sillä siinä on esitetelty petrogeologian perusteita selkeästi.

SDRL/NADL:n kannalta kiintoisa kysymys on vaikuttaako Barentsin tuorein löytö porauskaluston kysyntään. Ilmeisesti löytö nostaa CoS-laskelmaan ja siten nostaa osuman todennäköisyyttä ja tämän voisi luonnollisesti odottaa vaikuttavan hieman alueen exploration-aktiivisuuteen. Suhteellisen korkea öljyn hinta on kuitenkin ehdoton edellytys Barentsin löytöjen kaupallisuudelle(kuinka paljon on suhteellisen korkea? $70?).
