Libya's Arabian Gulf Oil Company (Agoco) has said production at its Sarir oilfield has now reached 160,000 barrels a day, Reuters has reported. 

 Tuotantoa voidaan nostaa useita satoja tuhansia tynnyriä hyvinkin nopeasti, mikä tulee painamaan Brenttiä selvästi. Toisaalta Gaddafi menetti valtansa pitkälti NATOn iskujen johdosta eikä taivaalle Kalashnikoveilla ja PKMillä räiskineiden "kapinallisten" toimien vuoksi, joten maassa on tällä hetkellä todellinen(ei ehkä virallisesti) valtatyhjiö. Tuota tyhjiötä pyrkivät täyttämään sekä kapina-koalition eri ryhmittymät että Gaddafin hallinnolle yhä uskolliset tahot ja todellinen sisällissota voi olla pian käsillä. Helppo keino horjuttaa väliaikaista hallintoa on iskeä öljyntuotantoon, jolloin hallinnon kassavarrat hupenevat nopeasti. Yhdysvalloilla eikä juuri millään muullakaan länsimaalla ole varaa rahoittaa Libyaa tai sen hallintoa pidempää aikaa.
Mahdollista on että nyt Libyassa rauha palaa maahan vuosikymmeniksi, mutta todennäköisempää on että volatiliteettiä riittää.

Petrominerales Provides Update on Temporary Production Halt and Road Blockades

BOGOTA, COLOMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 12, 2011) - Petrominerales Ltd. As a result, production totaling over 30,000 barrels of oil per day has been shut-in. We continue to take all necessary measures to maintain the safety of our personnel and contractors.

Petrominerales is optimistic that public order will be restored to the area soon, which would lead to the resumption of our production operations. Representatives of Petrominerales are planning to attend meetings organized by the Colombian Government on September 13, 2011 in conjunction with community leaders from the Corcel area, aimed at achieving a sustainable solution to this situation.

Americas Petrogas Makes New Discovery of Conventional Oil in Argentina

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 12, 2011) - Americas Petrogas (TSX VENTURE:BOE) ("Americas Petrogas" or the "Company"), is pleased to announce that it, along with its co-venturer, Gran Tierra Energy (NYSE Amex:GTE)(TSX:GTE), have made a new significant discovery of oil (1,023 barrels of oil equivalent per day) in the 1st of the three exploration wells on the Rinconada Norte block located in the Neuquen Basin of Argentina (Americas Petrogas Argentina S.A. is operator). The RN x-1004 well flowed a total combined test rate of approximately 944 barrels (150 m3) per day of oil and 13,360 m3 per day of gas (79 barrels of oil equivalent per day) for a total of approximately 1,023 barrels of oil equivalent per day from two intervals tested separately in the Precuyo formation. This well also flowed 43 barrels (5 m3) per day of water or a 4% water cut. From the depths of the zones tested (982-992 meters and 1022-1032 meters) and electric logs information, the Company estimates an oil column thickness of approximately 60 meters or 197 feet. The oil is 29.6 degrees API, sweet light crude similar to crude oil produced from the equivalent formation in Americas Petrogas' Medanito Sur block. This well has been completed and the service rig will now move on to the next two wells, which have already been drilled, logged and production casing has been installed. Americas Petrogas' wholly-owned Argentina subsidiary, Americas Petrogas Argentina S.A., is the operator of the Rinconada Norte block, holding a 65% working interest, while Gran Tierra Energy, through its Argentina subsidiary, holds a 35% working interest.

Chesapeake Energy's first horizontal Utica Shale well, the Buell #8H, tested 6.5 MMcfepd (6.2 MMcfpd of natural gas and 59 bopd of condensate), noted a September 8 report by Jefferies & Co. Inc. citing the Ohio Dept of Natural Resources. The hype surrounding the oil and natural gas producer's Utica Shale acreage jumped in July when, as part of its 2Q11 financials report, the company put a $15 to $20 billion valuation on its 1.25 million acres in Ohio. The Buell well, in central Harrison County, Ohio, sits in the wet gas window of the emerging Utica Shale. Drilled at a vertical depth of nearly 8,400 feet with another 6,800 feet of horizontal lateral, the condensate yield was similar to the wet area of the Marcellus in southwest Pennsylvania. Without choke size or flowing tubing/casing pressures in the completion report, “it is impossible to determine if the well was capable of flowing at a higher rate,” noted Jefferies analysts. “Field sources had indicated the well may have flowed as high as 18 MMcfe/d, but we have no way of confirming that from the data in the completion report. Nonetheless, 6.5 MMcfe/d from the first well in a new play is very encouraging. Highly unlikely Chesapeake has found the optimal landing target or frac recipe in the first attempt.”

In southeast Saskatchewan, the Company is pleased to provide an update on two new pool discovery wells that have recently been drilled and completed. Last month, the Company reported a vertical Bakken discovery well (50% WI) at Ceylon. The well, which was not stimulated, has produced an average of 28 bbl/d during the first 30 days of production with a 100% oil cut. We are very encouraged by these initial results and believe that the potential for significantly higher rates exists through horizontal development and fracture stimulation. Together with our partner, the Company is moving ahead with a 3D seismic program covering our lands and is currently in the process of licensing 6 horizontal wells. Spartan has 21 (10.5 net) sections of Crown land on the Ceylon prospect.
At Torquay, the company recently tested a vertical Midale discovery well (50% WI). The well, which was unstimulated, flowed at an average rate (restricted) of 303 bbl/d with a 98% oil cut during a 67 hour test period, following which the well was shut in for equipping. The well was drilled off a proprietary 3D seismic survey. The survey shows several distinct anomalies that are prospective for Midale oil and the Company believes that it has numerous follow up locations at Torquay in the Midale and the Bakken. The well is expected to be on production in the next week. 

STO:n presentaatiossa yhtiö vertaa(visuaalisesti) tuota Ceylonin kaivoa Pohjois-Dakotan rajalla olevaan Taylortonin Bakken-pooliin, jota operoi pääasiassa Legacy(LEG). En tiedä onko kyseessä vain havainnoillistava esimerkki mahdollisesta kehityskaaresta vaiko vihjaako yhtiö löydön olevan myös kooltaan Taylortonin tasolla. Taylortonin OOIP arvio on 250-300 miljoonaa tynnyriä vajaan 30,000 eekkerin kokoisella alueella(OOIP per section 4-6 miljoonaa tynnyriä eli Viewfieldin luokkaa). Yksi ero Taylortoniin on se että Bakken on Ceylonissa selvästi(yli 500 metriä) lähempänä pintaa, joten kaivot ovat halvempia. Taylortonin horisontaaleissa on myös ensimmäisestä päivästä lähtien vettä, muistin mukaan ensimmäisen kuun water cut on keskimäärin 30%.

Tuo Midale-pooli ei liene kovin iso(pari-kolme sectionia), mutta melkoisen huokoista on kivi(karbonaatti?) kaivon ympärillä. Männöö tuotantoon varmaankin vajaan 200 tynnyrin voluumilla ja maksaa itsensä takaisin alle puolessa vuodessa. Noissa pikku Mississippi-kauden ikäsissä(Midale, Frobisher, Ratcliff) pooleissa tuotanto laskee aika jyrkästi(>50%) ensimmäisenä vuonna, vaikka niissä ei frakkeja useimmiten tarvitakkaan. 

En tällä hetkellä omista tätä, mutta tämän edeltäjää omistin tuottoisasti, vaikka tulikin myytyä liian aikaisin. Ostoa harkitsen.

"Four-year contract secured for ultra-deepwater semi West Hercules"

Hamilton, Bermuda, September 9, 2011 - A four-year contract has been secured for the ultra-deepwater rig West Hercules for operations for harsh environment for the international energy company Statoil. The potential contract revenue value is US$787 million, including US$50 million in mobilization fee. Statoil has in addition, the right to extend the contract for an additional one-year period.  
Commencement of the assignment is scheduled for third quarter 2012, following completion of its current contract in South China Sea and mobilization period. The rig will be operated by North Atlantic Drilling Ltd., Seadrill's 75 percent owned subsidiary.
West Hercules is a sixth generation, dynamically positioned, high-specification, state of the art semi-submersible drilling unit. The unit has been working in the South China Sea since delivery from the yard in November 2008.

Zaedyus exploration well makes oil discovery offshore French Guiana'

9 September 2011 - Tullow Oil plc (Tullow) announces that the Zaedyus exploration well (GM-ES-1), offshore French Guiana, has made an oil discovery having encountered 72 metres of net oil pay in two turbidite fans. Results of drilling, wireline logs and samples of reservoir fluids show that the well has encountered good quality reservoir sands on prognosis. The objective of the Zaedyus well was to test whether the Jubilee-play, successfully established in West Africa, was mirrored on the other side of the Atlantic. This discovery therefore opens a new hydrocarbon basin within which several neighbouring prospects have been mapped. This result also reduces the exploration risk associated with Tullow's prospect inventory offshore French Guiana, Suriname and Guyana. An appraisal programme and extensive follow-up exploration activities will now be considered. The Zaedyus well is being drilled in the Guyane Maritime licence using the ENSCO 8503 deepwater semi submersible. The well was drilled in water depths of 2,048 metres and has been drilled to a depth of 5,711 metres. Drilling operations will now continue and the well will be deepened to over 6,000 metres to calibrate the deeper geology. The well will then likely be sidetracked to enable cores to be obtained over the reservoir sections. Tullow (27.5%) operates the Guyane Maritime license and is partnered by Shell (45%), Total (25%) and Northpet (2.5%), a company owned 50% by Northern Petroleum plc and 50% by Wessex Exploration plc.

Tullow:n frontier etsintäporaus on jotain aivan uskomatonta, kunyhtiö näyttää löytävän 100+ miljoonan tynnyrin kenttiä kaikkialta. Yhtiön elokuisessa H1-presentaatiossa(s.30) on yksityiskohtia yhtiön Etelä-Amerikan etsintäporausohjelmasta.

CGX Energy(OYL) repäisi sitten 64% ylös, vaikka sillä ei ole osuutta tässä löydössä, vain osuu useamman sadan kilometrin päässä olevassa blokissa, jota Tullow operoi. R-R-suhde OYL:ssä on tämän löydön ja kurssispurtin jälkeen kiintoisa.

BOGOTA, COLOMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 8, 2011) - Petrominerales Ltd. ("Petrominerales" or the "Company") (TSX:PMG) (BVC:PMGC) advises that groups of persons are illegally blocking public roads near Corcel and Guatiquia, which has led to a lack of public order in the area.

On the evening of September 6, 2011, small groups of people began illegally blocking roads near Corcel and Guatiquia. These persons are not employees or contractors of, or associated in any way, with Petrominerales. These blockades and the actions of those involved have resulted in a lack of public order which impacts Petrominerales' operations in the area. Petrominerales has taken all precautions necessary and acted prudently to ensure the safety of our staff and contractors, including releasing all non-essential personnel from the applicable areas.

As a result of these measures, a temporary production halt has been initiated on certain wells located on our Corcel and Guatiquia Blocks. We estimate that approximately 15,000 barrels of oil per day are currently shut-in as a result. We will continue to take all necessary measures to maintain the safety of our personnel and contractors and to limit any potential damages.
