Petrobakken Provides Update on Swan Hills Activites

"CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 3, 2012) - PetroBakken Energy Ltd. (the "Company" or "PetroBakken") (TSX:PBN) is pleased to announce recent exploration developments with respect to the highly prospective Beaverhill Lake formation in the Swan Hills area, which we have targeted as one of our key new resource growth areas. Recent farm-in agreements with Arcan Resources Ltd. ("Arcan") has enabled us to secure up to 21.5 (11.25 net) sections of land within the prospective areas of the play by drilling 5 commitment wells and 2 option wells. Upon completion of these farm-in wells and combined with our existing acreage, we will have 90.5 (78 net) sections of land in this play with more than 175 potential net drilling locations identified."
"We are also pleased to announce that we have acquired 7,055,500 common shares of Arcan at an average price of $0.89 per share. These shares, which represent 7.2% of the issued and outstanding shares of Arcan, were acquired through the facilities of the CNSX Pure Trading exchange. As a result of this acquisition, PetroBakken now owns 16,605,900 common shares of Arcan, representing approximately 17% of the total issued and outstanding common shares of Arcan as of the date hereof, on a non-diluted basis."
Tämä on hieman outoa. Mitä tuollainen pieni farm-in merkitsee PBN:lle? CPG:n passiivisuus ARNin suhteen on myöskin outoa.

Kuten kirjoitin pari viikkoa sitten olen itse taasen ilman Arcania. 40% nousut ohi lompakon.

CRESCENT POINT ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC BAKKEN WATERFLOOD CONSOLIDATION ACQUISITION, A $525 MILLION BOUGHT DEAL FINANCING AND UPWARDLY REVISED 2012 GUIDANCE

February 16, 2012 CALGARY, ALBERTA. Crescent Point Energy Corp. (“Crescent Point” or the “Company”) (TSX: CPG) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement (the “Bakken Acquisition”) with PetroBakken Energy Ltd. (“PetroBakken”), a publicly traded oil and gas producer, to acquire certain assets in the proposed waterflood area of the Viewfield Bakken light oil resource play in southeast Saskatchewan (the “Bakken Waterflood Assets”) for cash consideration of $427 million. The assets are primarily in the Company’s proposed waterflood units and include more than 2,900 boe/d of production and more than 25 net sections of land in the Viewfield Bakken resource play. The Bakken Acquisition is expected to help accelerate Crescent Point’s waterflood program in the Viewfield Bakken resource play.

Sask. Bak. EOR

Petrobakkenin tammikuun presentaatiossa on ensi kertaa laajemmin esillä toisen vaiheen talteenotto Bakkenissa.

"The Company believes that it has substantially more CO(2) gas in the Duperow formation than what is required to fully flood its Madison oil pool in Battle Creek"

(aiheesta lisää mm. tässä tekstissä: The Upper Devonian Duperow Formation of Southwestern
Saskatchewan: An Example of a Natural CO2 flood.

Oilweekista:
But there are also some important differences between PetroBakken and Crescent Point, in particular, their view on waterflooding. PetroBakken expects between 20 and 25 per cent oil recovery in the Bakken and has said the formation is not amenable to waterflooding because of its low permeability. Crescent Point believes it is.

"The reason [PetroBakken doesn´t] think waterflood is prospective is because they haven´t done the work," Saxberg says. "We´ve had three years of waterflood pilot projects. Crescent Point has been the only company testing the waterflood potential in the Bakken since day one."

For Saxberg, waterflood is the big prize, providing the highest recovery and best economic scenario. Based on some of this preliminary work, he thinks waterflood could yield upwards of 33 per cent oil recovery in the Bakken. And while Crescent Point and PetroBakken currently use the same technology to drill and complete wells in the Bakken, these different ends are already dictating different means

PetroBakken:

Bakken 3.0
• More fracture stimulations per section improves production performance
• Most capital efficient method for increasing frac intensity is long bi-lateral horizontal wells
• Dramatic increase in the number of fracs per section of land for a minor increase in perwell
cost ($1.7 mm versus $2.3 mm)

Kumpi on oikeassa?
